FRANKLIN FURNACE, Ohio — Green Township Fire Chief Moore says residents have been asking him for weeks how to get in touch with Google and the company building the tech giant’s data center in the township, and over the weekend he shared the contact information in a post on the fire department’s Facebook page.

Moore wrote that Google has set up a temporary email address, [email protected], for residents with questions about the project. He said the company is close to hiring someone to serve as a dedicated local point of contact and that he has already invited that person to attend an upcoming township trustees meeting.

The data center planned for Franklin Furnace, an unincorporated community in Green Township along the Ohio River in Scioto County, has drawn sustained local interest since Google was confirmed as the company behind the project. Scioto Valley Guardian has previously reported on an Ohio EPA public meeting held over a wetland permit tied to the project and on Scioto County commissioners withholding records related to a nondisclosure agreement connected to the deal.

For questions specific to construction, Moore listed Chris Paine of Holder Construction, the project’s contractor, along with his email address, [email protected].

Moore’s post marks one of the first times residents have been given a direct line to both the technology company and its contractor, rather than relying on county officials or public meetings for updates on the project.
