HILLSBORO, Ohio — Highland District Hospital and the Highland County Firefighters Association will host a Public Safety Awareness Day on Sunday, Oct. 25, giving residents a chance to meet the firefighters, paramedics and hospital staff who respond to emergencies across the county.
The event runs from noon to 2 p.m. at Highland District Hospital, 1275 N. High St. in Hillsboro, according to a post from Highland County EMA.
The hospital describes itself as accredited and in compliance with national standards for safety and quality care, offering emergency services along with cardiology, orthopedics, surgical and outpatient specialty care to Highland County residents.
The Highland County Firefighters Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, represents 15 member fire and emergency service agencies across the county, including Highland County North, Lynchburg, Marshall, Brush Creek, Paint Creek, Southern Highland, Clinton-Highland, Fayetteville, Bainbridge, Peebles, Winchester, Sardinia, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office, Highland County EMA and the Eastern Joint Fire and EMS District. The association provides training for firefighters and EMTs and raises money for that training through community fundraisers, including an annual mum sale held each fall.
Sunday’s event will give families an opportunity to see emergency vehicles up close and talk directly with the first responders and medical staff who serve Highland County.
