CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — Circleville City Council has agreed to pay $25,000 toward the salary of Uptown Circleville’s executive director for 2027, continuing the city’s financial support for the nonprofit that works to grow and retain downtown businesses.

Council passed a resolution Sept. 15 authorizing the city auditor to enter into a pledge agreement with Uptown Circleville, committing the funds from the city’s general fund for the 2027 calendar year, according to the resolution.

The pledge is part of a broader funding arrangement in which several government entities have agreed to help cover the cost of the position, the resolution said.

Uptown Circleville works to encourage growth and retention of downtown businesses within the city, according to the resolution. Mayor Michelle Blanton approved the measure the same day council passed it.
