LUCASVILLE, Ohio — Water One has issued a boil water advisory for homes along South Marca Road, Lintz Hollow Road and Lintz Hollow Left Fork, the Scioto County Emergency Management Agency said in a Facebook post.
The advisory covers South Marca Road addresses from 0 to 133, along with the surrounding Lintz Hollow area, according to the EMA.
Customers in the affected areas are advised to boil tap water for at least two minutes before drinking it or using it for cooking or brushing teeth, the agency said. Infants and people with weakened immune systems face the greatest risk from untreated water, officials said.
The advisory remains in effect until further notice. Water One has not said when normal service will resume, according to the EMA.
Boil advisories are typically issued after a loss of water pressure, a water main break or other disruption that could allow bacteria or other contaminants to enter the distribution system.
Water One, formally known as Scioto County Regional Water District No. 1, has operated in the Lucasville area since 1967. The district draws groundwater from wells tapping the Teays Valley Aquifer and supplies water to roughly 20,000 customers in Scioto County.
