CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Paint Street will close in both directions Saturday between Main Street and the alley beside the Law Enforcement Complex so crews can continue construction work at the Ross County Courthouse, the city announced.
The closure, in front of the courthouse, is scheduled to run from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 24, according to the city. Drivers are advised to plan alternate routes through downtown during that window.
The work is part of an ongoing restoration project at the historic courthouse. Ross County’s Justice Committee — which includes the county commissioners, the county prosecutor, the clerk of courts, the probate judge and a common pleas judge — voted Aug. 10 to approve plans and specifications to move forward with the first phase of the project. The vote followed commissioners’ approval in July of $350,000 for painting the courthouse clock tower and installing a new weathervane, part of the broader series of work on the building.
Residents with questions about Saturday’s closure can call the city at 740-773-2700 or email [email protected], the city said.
