JACKSON, Ohio — Two area credit unions will join local stakeholders Wednesday for a roundtable discussion on efforts to keep costs down for their members amid ongoing affordability concerns statewide.
Atomic Credit Union and DESCO Federal Credit Union will meet with community stakeholders at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Jackson County Area Agency on Aging, 1 Acy Ave., according to a media advisory from the Ohio Credit Union League. The league organized the event.
The roundtable follows an “Affordability Agenda” that the league’s Advocacy Action Committee recently shared with both major candidates in Ohio’s gubernatorial race, the league said. The agenda calls on the state’s next governor to work with credit unions on five priorities: more affordable housing, lower and fewer fees, reinvestment in Ohio communities, people-driven financial services and increased financial literacy.
Ohio credit unions serve more than 3.3 million members statewide as member-owned, not-for-profit institutions, according to the league, which said the roundtable will highlight local initiatives aimed at helping members meet their financial needs.
