CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — The Circleville Police Department has promoted Patrick Murphy to the rank of sergeant, city officials announced, rounding out the department’s command staff.
Murphy joined the department as a patrolman in 2021 and has since “demonstrated dedication and commitment to serving the Circleville community,” the city said in a statement posted to Facebook announcing the promotion.
With Murphy’s promotion, the police department’s command staff is fully staffed for the first time in months, a milestone city officials called “an exciting” one for the department. The command staff sits below Chief Kenny Fisher, who leads the roughly two dozen sworn officers and support personnel who make up the department.
The Circleville Police Department, headquartered at 151 E. Franklin St., describes its mission as providing “a safe and orderly environment in our community through professionalism, dedication, an active partnership with the community.” Beyond patrol, the department operates a detective bureau, a K-9 unit, a school resource officer program, a SWAT team and its own dispatch center serving the county seat of Pickaway County.
“This is a great moment for the Circleville Police Department, and we are proud to see our department continue to grow stronger with dedicated leaders serving our community,” the city said in its announcement.
