COLUMBUS, Ohio — During a press conference on Monday, the Ohio Department of Health announced that new COVID-19 guidelines will be issued over the coming days for Ohio schools. The guidelines according to officials, will help Ohio school districts safely prepare for the coming school year.
Ohio’s top doctor, Bruce Vanderhoff, recommended that masks should be worn inside schools, along with social distancing.
Dr. Vanderhoff stated that these guidelines are recommendations and not mandates.
State officials continued to stress the importance of getting vaccinated, and strongly recommend that students over 12-years of age and all school staff be fully vaccinated before the school year begins.
Governor Mike DeWine commented today by saying that there will be no new mask mandate. The governor went on to say that he will “leave the mask mandate decision to individual school districts.”
