WASHINGTON, DC — Federal officials say food stamp recipients will see an increase in benefits starting this month.
Ohio Job and Family Services said benefits will increase an average of 30% compared to pre-pandemic levels.
This will be the largest increase in the history of the program.
According to the United States Department of Agriculture, “for a family of four receiving a maximum allotment, benefits will be $835 per month.” This is up from $680.
The USDA says nearly 50 million people are currently receiving food stamp benefits. That number is up from the nearly 40 million recipients in 2020.
