ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Police in Ross County located a stolen car after the driver took the vehicle to a local mechanic shop.
The Ross County Sheriff’s Office received a call Wednesday from Muffler Brothers on Western Avenue after a person came in asking about repairs.
Reports state that the customer asked the clerk about having the exhaust system fixed on their vehicle. The employee told law enforcement that the car needed a catalytic converter installed. That is when, reports say, the unidentified male subject left the business leaving the vehicle behind.
The man, described by employees, is a Caucasian male, around 5′ 7″ tall, approximately 190lbs, wearing a blue hoodie, camo pants, with a white American flag toboggan. Deputies say they were able to obtain surveillance footage of the individual.
The clerk at the business told officials that she had found the vehicle listed as stolen on a Ross County Facebook page. That is when, according to the clerk, she contacted the police. Law enforcement impounded the vehicle then transported it to the Sheriff’s Office for storage.
The case remains under investigation.
