WILMINGTON, Ohio — Heat and the potential for severe storms are on tap for your Sunday. 

According to the National Weather Service, much of the area remains under a risk for severe weather this evening, with high winds and heavy rain being the primary threats. 

In addition to the potential for severe weather, much of southern Ohio remains under a heat advisory until 8 p.m.

Forecasters say heat indexes are expected to reach nearly 100 degrees this afternoon. 

Residents should take the necessary precautions to protect themselves in order to avoid heat-related injuries.
