WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland announced that the Department of Justice would be filing a motion to have the search warrant executed at the home of Donald Trump unsealed.
The AG said during an impromptu press conference that he personally approved the search warrant filing.
FBI agents raided the Florida home of former President Donald Trump on Monday.
Those close to Trump told the press that the search was centered around documents the former president allegedly had at his residence.
In a statement released, Trump, who was not at Mar-a-Lago at the time of the raid, scorned the FBI for the search. “It is prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the justice system, and an attack by radical left Democrats who desperately don’t want me to run for President.” Trump would go on to say, “Such an assault could only take place in broken, third-world countries. Sadly, America has now become one of those countries, corrupt at a level not seen before. They even broke into my safe!”
Garland would not take questions or comment on the ongoing investigation.
