Troopers and officers were engaged in a minor pursuit in Chillicothe Tuesday night believed to be caused by a medical issue.
After leading law enforcement for about two miles at 45 miles per hour, the driver stopped at Bridge and Water and was held at gunpoint by nearly a dozen city officers and troopers. One Trooper approached the car.
The woman — who the Guardian is not naming — was placed into handcuffs for everyone’s safety and taken to a nearby ambulance until officers could figure out exactly what was happening. The on-duty supervisor for the patrol said the woman suffered from the beginning stages of Alzheimer’s and/or dementia.
The medically-induced pursuit started near Bridge Street and Marietta Road at around 8 p.m. Tuesday night.
Bridge Street was partially restricted at Main until the scene was moved to a nearby gas station parking lot.
