CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Two donated parcels of land will soon become the newest park within the City of Chillicothe.
Former city council member Pat Patrick donated the two pieces of property along Wade Street on the city’s east side to become the 6th ward’s first public park.
Currently, the city, and the parks and recreation department are seeking design ideas from residents within the community. “It’s something nice to see in the east end,” said one resident.
The planning and construction, officials say, will be a 4-phase project with the Ohio State Landscape Architecture Program overseeing the design.
In a statement on the city’s website, officials said, “As we continue linking partnerships to develop the park, we want to hear from the community about what park components should be included. This feedback will be incorporated to guide the design of the park. Design options will be shared with the public for further feedback before implementation.”
The Ross County Land Bank, and the Ross County Health District’s Creating Healthy Communities program are also involved in the project.
