CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Ohio University Chillicothe is offering a series of community education workshops and classes for those who want to learn new skills and explore their creativity. These workshops are open to the public of all ages and include a wide range of activities such as basket weaving, candle making, needle felting, cocktail making, hiking, painting, and more.
Participant Adrienne Boggs said, “I appreciate Ohio University Chillicothe for taking an active role in enriching the lives of people in our town. I have taken so many different Continuing Education Workshops at Ohio University Chillicothe and they have all been fantastic.” Adrienne added that the workshops provide a great opportunity to learn new skills, make new friends, and connect with old ones.
The spring workshops kick off on Monday, Feb. 6, 2023, with Valentine’s Night In, led by Tara Gillum, Ohio University alumna and owner of Steiner’s Speakeasy. The featured classes throughout the spring semester will include cocktail-making sessions with Tara Gillum, candle-making with Emma Martin, basket-making with Melodee Caudill, songwriting with Bruce Dalzell, and hiking with Kim Lafreniere.
Beverly Crabtree, who took a basket weaving workshop, said “The basket workshops have been fun and instructive. The instructor is knowledgeable and approachable. I look forward to taking more classes.”
Ann Holmes, the administrative assistant who coordinates the workshops, said, “We’re pleased to welcome community members from Chillicothe and the surrounding area to participate in these community workshops that offer a little something for everyone, whether you are looking to try something new, or hone your skills at something you already enjoy.”
