James Andrew Proctor, 49, of Chillicothe, died unexpectedly February 6, 2023, in Adena Regional Medical Center.
He was born November 14, 1973, in Chillicothe to James L. and Ruhama L. (Ritchie) Proctor, who survive. On May 24, 2003, he married the former Julie K. Strawser, who survives.
In addition to his parents and wife Julie, he is survived by his son Reid Proctor; daughter Abbie Proctor; his sister and brother-in-law Keri (Josh) Young; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Robert Strawser and Diana Strawser; sisters-in-law Amy (Henry) Vallette and Lori (Canon) Anderson; nieces and nephews: Maylee Young, Josie Vallette, Henry Vallette IV, Simeon Anderson and Libby Anderson, all of Chillicothe; numerous friends; and his K9 beagle “Bailey.”
He was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents, and loyal beagle “Molly.”
Andrew was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Class of 1992. He earned his associates degree from Ohio University-Chillicothe, and had been employed with Horizon Telephone since 1996, most recently as a Fiber Plant Facility Technician. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, IBEW Union Local 578, and the NRA.
Andrew’s past friend, Eric Carver was a mentor to him. Andrew had a passion to work, build and fix things. He built his family’s first home, pursued starting his own business, Home Solutions, and was most recently remodeling their current home. He believed in doing things right the first time, he was who we all relied on and we knew he enjoyed being that for us. Mostly, he loved his family and teaching his children his craft and work ethic.
His funeral service will be held 11am Monday, February 13, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Dr. Jason Link officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-5pm Sunday at the funeral home.
