CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Two men were arrested over the weekend for allegedly trying to rob an Amazon delivery driver.
The Chillicothe Police Department said officers were requested to East Seventh Street on Sunday.
Reports say that officers met with the caller who stated that two men on bicycles approached the driver’s van. Both men, the driver said, were wearing black masks that were covering their faces.
The caller went on to tell police that the two men surrounded the van. One person, the driver said, appeared to have a weapon as he reached for it while shouting at the driver. It was then, according to the police report obtained by the Guardian, the driver sped away from the scene and called the police.
Officers reported that while they were speaking to the driver, another officer spotted the suspects near Caldwell Street. The two men, officers said, took off on foot after being seen by police. They were eventually apprehended near the Fawcett-Oliver-Glass and Palmer Funeral Home located at 77 E. Fifth St.
The two men, identified as Timothy J. Kerry, and Blake A. Sherrick were transported to the Ross County Jail. Both men, officials said, denied their involvement in the attempted robbery.
Authorities say that charges of attempted aggravated robbery and complicity to aggravated robbery will be submitted to the next session of the Ross County Grand Jury.
