CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe City Council will meet in a regular session on Monday, March 13th, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. to discuss several items of legislation. 

The council is expected to review several ordinances and resolutions approved for a third reading. These included a resolution adopting the Chillicothe Comprehensive Plan, a resolution authorizing the auction of miscellaneous items, including city-owned vehicles and equipment, and an ordinance accepting the donation of property located at 27 Wade Street and Fourth Street with the intention of developing it into a neighborhood park. The council will also review an ordinance supporting the Chillicothe Cat Project, appropriating $15,000.00 for its Trap-Neuter-Return project, and declaring an emergency. 

In addition, several items have been previously approved for a second reading. These included a resolution authorizing the appropriate city officials to apply for and enter into an agreement with the Ohio Public Works Commission grant funds program for the year 2024, accepting grant funds if awarded and declaring an emergency. The council also will review an ordinance reallocating funds appropriated for the Chief Building Official’s salary and an ordinance reappropriating funds that were approved and appropriated in the 2022 budget and not yet spent or encumbered at the end of 2022. 

Other items previously approved for a first reading will be discussed. These include an ordinance accepting and appropriating $50,000.00 received from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources as a reimbursement after the successful completion of the ODNR Emerald Ash Borer grant awarded in 2019. The council will also review a resolution expressing cooperation and granting use of a certain portion of Paint Street to Downtown Chillicothe for its Downtown Chillicothe Brewfest and a resolution granting use of the City Park and surrounding streets from Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 8:00 A.M. through Monday, May 29, 2023, at 11:00 A. M. for preparation, operation, and clean-up of the annual Feast of the Flowering Moon and Memorial Day parade and providing for coordination of the events with the City Parks and Recreation Department. 

City council meetings are open to the public. All citizens have the right to attend and participate during the open forum portion of the meeting.
