COLUMBUS, Ohio — A law firm representing one of the individuals injured in the deadly New Year’s Day shooting at Bucks Platinum Gentlemen’s Club has filed a lawsuit against the strip club’s owners. The Columbus law firm Malek & Malek filed the lawsuit on behalf of their client, alleging negligence in Bucks Platinum’s security measures that allowed two armed men to enter the building, resulting in the murder of Charles Westbrook and injuring four others.
The shooting took place at approximately 2:30 a.m. on January 1, 2023, and authorities from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio Bureau of Investigations responded to the scene. The lawsuit, filed on April 20, 2023, claims that Bucks Platinum was aware of previous firearms and shooting incidents on the premises, including one that occurred on January 9, 2022.

Carpenter also stated that their client and other victims and their families have suffered immense physical and emotional pain as a result of the shooting.
Bucks Platinum Gentlemen’s Club has been operational for less than two years, and the lawsuit alleges that the club was negligent in its security measures, which resulted in the shooting. The plaintiffs seek damages for physical and emotional injuries sustained as a result of the incident.
