CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — An unusual incident unfolded recently in a local alleyway near East Fourth Street, where a man claimed to have been assaulted after confronting two unknown individuals. The man, whose name was not released, stated that he returned home to find the suspects kicking a wooden fence behind his residence.
In an attempt to confront them, the man, reports state, drove his 2012 black Cadillac down the alley, exited the vehicle, and asked the suspects about their actions. According to the man, one of the suspects turned and punched him on the left side of his face with a closed fist.
The man also claimed to have sustained a cut on the palm of his left hand due to the alleged punch, leading to his hand sliding on the asphalt. One officer in his report said the injury did not seem consistent with road rash from asphalt or gravel.
Further complicating the situation, the man stated that both suspects attempted to steal his vehicle by getting inside. He told officers that he managed to get back into the car, press the brake, and tried to place the vehicle in park, leading to collisions on both the front and rear of the vehicle.
Despite providing a written statement, the man’s account, the officer said, was found to be inconsistent with the man’s original story. The victim also expressed that he did not wish to pursue charges, leaving the case unresolved.
