ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Concerns of potential child abuse at a local Ross County daycare have surfaced following a report from Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

A mother, upon collecting her 2-year-old child from the daycare on October 9, was alerted to a mysterious mark on her child’s arm. Daycare staff presented her with an incident report but were unable to clarify how the injury occurred. Upon closer examination, the mother identified what appeared to be a burn mark on the inner elbow of the child.

After a series of persistent inquiries, one teacher admitted to using a household cleaning tool known as a “Magic Eraser” to remove marker ink from the child’s arm, unintentionally causing the burn-like mark. This method starkly contrasts with the daycare’s standard procedure of using only soap and water for such tasks.

Adding to the concerns, the same teachers were involved in a prior incident with the child. Despite the child being potty-trained, the mother was given a bag of wet clothes with an explanation that the child had “wet through his diaper.” The teachers noted they put the child in a diaper during “high chair time,” which is typically from 8 am to 10 am.

Following the incidents and a discussion with daycare leadership, both teachers were promptly terminated. The mother, disturbed by these events, has decided not to return her child to the facility.

Hospital staff documented the child’s injuries with photographs and deputies continue their investigation.
