PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — A traffic accident claimed the life of a 40-year-old man on Wednesday, February 8th. According to Pickaway County Sheriff Matthew O. Hafey, emergency responders were called to the scene on Darby Road near mile marker 7175 around 11:48 AM.
Upon arrival, deputies found a 2020 Chevrolet engulfed in flames. Investigators determined the vehicle, traveling westbound, had veered off the road, struck a tree, and then collided head-on with another tree before coming to rest in the middle of the roadway.
Despite the efforts of Scioto Township, Harrison Township Fire Departments, and emergency medical personnel, the driver, identified as Bradley R. Winstead of Circleville, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:07 PM. He was transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.
