CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A routine traffic stop led to the seizure of suspected narcotics and the issuance of citations and summons to two individuals, according to a report by the Chillicothe Police Department.
The incident occurred on N. Bridge Street near Winona Blvd when a gray sedan with expired registration was pulled over. The driver, identified as Earl Richard, and the passenger, Jesse Eldridge, were found in the vehicle.
During the stop, officers discovered a glass “bubble” with residue, typically associated with narcotic use, in the driver’s area of the vehicle. A subsequent search of Richard and Eldridge’s person and effects led to the discovery of clear plastic baggies containing an unknown crystal-like substance and green pills marked “TEVA”. Eldridge stated that the pills were his nerve pills and that he did not have a prescription for them.
Richard was issued a citation for Driving Under Suspension (DUS) and Expired Registration, and a summons for Drug Paraphernalia. Eldridge was also issued a summons for Drug Paraphernalia. Both are due to appear in the Chillicothe Municipal Court on March 15, 2024.
The vehicle was towed, and all evidence was photographed and entered into CPD evidence. Both Richard and Eldridge were advised that the suspected drugs would be sent off to BCI for testing and identification, and they may face a felony possession of drugs charge at a later date.
