FAYETTE COUNTY, Ohio – A high-speed pursuit involving multiple law enforcement agencies ended in a crash and the arrest of a suspect in Fayette County on Thursday afternoon.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received notification from the Hillsboro Police Department that they were pursuing a red 2005 Ford F150 truck traveling north on U.S. 62. Fayette County deputies took over the pursuit, and the suspect vehicle continued on multiple roads at high speeds.
During the chase, the suspect rammed the rear of a Fayette County Sheriff’s cruiser. The pursuit ended in an agricultural field after the suspect abruptly turned the vehicle and collided with another cruiser.
Officers from multiple agencies apprehended the suspect, identified as Dustin W. Chaney, age 41, of Hillsboro, Ohio. Chaney was observed causing self-harm and was transported to Adena-Fayette Medical Center for treatment. He was later released and taken into custody by the Highland County Sheriff’s Office on active felony drug warrants.
No officers were injured in the incident. Chaney may face additional charges in Fayette County.
