DAYTON, Ohio — In an unusual incident that unfolded in Dayton, a woman is in critical condition after falling down a garbage chute at a high-rise apartment on Monday.
According to the Dayton Fire Department, the woman became seriously entangled in the garbage compactor. The severity of the situation necessitated a nearly two-hour rescue operation by first responders.
Officials described the situation as so dire that a team of doctors from Miami Valley Hospital, including a surgical team, was requested at the scene. It remains unknown how long the woman was in the chute before her cries for help were heard.
The woman, whose identity has not been released, remains in serious condition. The exact circumstances leading to her ending up in the chute are yet to be disclosed.
