DAYTON, Ohio — In an unusual incident that unfolded in Dayton, a woman is in critical condition after falling down a garbage chute at a high-rise apartment on Monday.
According to the Dayton Fire Department, the woman became seriously entangled in the garbage compactor. The severity of the situation necessitated a nearly two-hour rescue operation by first responders.
Officials described the situation as so dire that a team of doctors from Miami Valley Hospital, including a surgical team, was requested at the scene. It remains unknown how long the woman was in the chute before her cries for help were heard.
