COLUMBUS, Ohio – An Ohio attorney, Jack Blakeslee, has been reinstated to practice law after serving a six-month suspension for an unusual and unsanitary act involving a Pringles can.
According to filings with the Ohio Supreme Court, the incident occurred on November 30, 2021, the day of a pretrial hearing for one of Blakeslee’s clients. Early that morning, Blakeslee deposited his own feces into an empty Pringles can, then drove to Cambridge with the can in his vehicle.
Around 8:10 a.m., Blakeslee turned into an alley where the Haven of Hope’s parking lot is located. He reportedly passed by the parking lot twice before throwing the open Pringles can containing feces into the lot. He then proceeded to the courthouse for his client’s 8:30 a.m. hearing.
A witness observed Blakeslee throw the can and later identified the contents as human feces. She reported the incident to the Cambridge Police Department upon arriving at the courthouse, where Blakeslee was present for the hearing.
Blakeslee was charged with and pled guilty to disorderly conduct and littering, both minor misdemeanors. He paid a $300 fine and court costs.
Blakeslee, from Noble County, had been familiar with the victim advocates at Haven of Hope for years and had an upcoming court appointment with them shortly after the incident. At that time, he was representing a client who was accused in a murder case.
Having completed his suspension, Blakeslee is now permitted to resume his legal practice.
