CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A local man’s act of kindness is causing a stir in Ross County, where his well-meaning gestures have landed him in hot water with the law. The Ross County Sheriff’s Office says that on July 19, a maintenance worker for the city reported an individual had been cutting roses off the bushes outside the Ross County Law Enforcement Complex and handing them to women passing by.
According to deputies, the maintenance worker allegedly spoke to the county administrator, who supposedly requested charges if the incidents persisted. The individual (whose name has been redacted) could face jail time if he continues his floral distributions.
Opinions about the incident are divided. Some see the man’s actions as harmless or even heartwarming, a way to brighten someone’s day, while others view it as an act of vandalism against public property that must be addressed.
