CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Police Department responded to a violent assault in Chillicothe on Monday.
On the evening of August 5, Chillicothe police were dispatched to the intersection of East Seventh Street and South Mulberry Street in response to reports of a man lying in the middle of the road, bleeding from his head. Upon arrival, officers could not locate any individuals at the reported location.
A subsequent search of the area led officers to find a man walking near South Mulberry Street and East Fifth Street, bleeding from his head. The man, according to the police report, recounted that he had been involved in a verbal altercation with an unknown male at the original location, East Seventh Street and South Mulberry Street, over an attempted marijuana purchase.
He explained that the altercation escalated when the unknown male offered him “cream,” a slang term for cocaine. The man declined the offer, derogatorily referring to the drug, which led to a heated argument. During the exchange, another unknown male struck him multiple times on the back of the head with a pipe.
The man was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center by Chillicothe EMS for treatment of his injuries.
Officers attempted to locate the original crime scene but were unsuccessful. Responding officers wrote in their report that given the man’s reluctance to pursue charges, the investigation was concluded, and the scene was cleared.
