CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Detectives with the Chillicothe Police Department executed a search warrant this week on a local motel room suspected of being involved in drug trafficking activities. The raid took place on August 7 in Room 56 of the Executive Inn on North Bridge Street.
According to the police report, detectives arrived at the motel and obtained a key to the room from the front desk. However, when officers attempted to use the key card, it failed to work. After knocking and announcing their presence, they were met with a voice from inside the room that refused to open the door. A sergeant on the scene then attempted to gain entry using a sledgehammer.
Eventually, a woman identified as Carley Moon opened the door. A search of the room uncovered multiple cell phones, digital scales, cash, and baggies, items often associated with drug trafficking.
In addition to the search of the room, authorities seized a vehicle belonging to Moon. Once at the Ross County Jail, a body scanner revealed a large bag containing a “white rocky substance” hidden in Moon’s vaginal area. The substance, later identified as 38 grams of suspected crack cocaine, was confiscated.
Moon, who was on federal drug trafficking probation at the time of her arrest, has been charged with tampering with evidence and the illegal conveyance of drugs into a detention facility. Additional felony charges are pending, pending laboratory analysis of the suspected crack cocaine. Moon remains in custody at the Ross County Jail.
The Executive Inn, formerly known as the Chillicothe Inn, has long been a source of controversy in the community. Over the years, Chillicothe City Council has considered taking action to declare the property a nuisance and shut it down due to ongoing issues with prostitution and drug trafficking that have plagued the motel for over a decade.
