CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Community Foundations, Inc., in collaboration with The Columbus Foundation, is welcoming nonprofit organizations in Ross County to submit applications for grant funding. These grants aim to support projects focusing on cultural development, health and human welfare, economic development, and initiatives for underprivileged youth. The funding is sourced from two key funds: the Robert E. and Genevieve B. Schaefer Fund and the Burton E. Stevenson Fund.
The Robert E. and Genevieve B. Schaefer Fund was created in 1989 by Robert E. Schaefer, a dedicated Chillicothe resident, to enhance cultural development, health, and economic growth in Chillicothe and the surrounding Ross County area.
Nonprofits interested in securing a grant from the Schaefer Fund can find more information and apply at cbusfdn.org/regionalfunds. The application period opens on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, and closes on Friday, October 25, 2024.
Similarly, the Burton E. Stevenson Fund, established in 1992 by the Chillicothe-born Burton Egbert Stevenson, offers additional funding opportunities. Stevenson, who served as the librarian for over six decades, and his wife Elizabeth Shepard Butler, were significant figures in the community.
