FBI agents have arrested Ohio’s Speaker of the House.
Agents descended on the property of Speaker Larry Householder while federal prosecutors have called a 2 p.m. news conference later today to discuss a racketeering scheme they say they’ve uncovered.
Agents were seen in shirts emblazoned with yellow “FBI” lettering as they walked around Larry Householder’s Glenford farm in Perry County on Tuesday morning. Householder was taken into custody by agents simultaneously.
United State District Attorney David DeVillers has called a 2 p.m. news conference in downtown Columbus to discuss what his office is calling a “$60 million bribe to state official and associates.”
In addition to Householder, sources confirm at least three top key GOP advisers have also been arrested.
Householder has been Ohio’s Speaker of the House since 2019. He took over from a previous term where then-Speaker Cliff Rosenberger was also under FBI investigation. Rosenberger resigned his position after federal agents raided his home and personal business office. No charges have been brought in connection to that case.
Perry County deputies were also seen at the Hosueholder farm assisting the agents. The Sheriff did not immediately comment on why the raid was being conducted.
