A house that went up in flames in Londonderry Wednesday afternoon is a total loss and the cause remains under investigation.
The fire occurred around 1:30 p.m. at 2199 State Route 327. Multiple agencies were dispatched to the scene. When they arrived, smoke and flames were shooting through the roof and windows.
It took firefighters more than two hours to get the fire under control, with damage being caused to a nearby house from the heat of the flames.
Liberty Township Assistant Fire Chief Kent Leach told the Guardian that the fire remains under investigation, and as a precaution, he has requested the state fire marshal to the scene to investigate.
Leach would not opine on what may have caused the fire, but said that the home was occupied by a family, who made it out safely.
Assisting Liberty Township were multiple departments, including Huntington, Harrison, and Jefferson townships.
