A small number of residents in Fayette County were being asked to shelter-in-place after a malfunction at the pipeline substation.
It happened on old route 35 in Jefferson Township after the call came in around 7 p.m. on Friday night.
Firefighters responded to the area after the substation experienced an emergency shutdown, which caused people in the area to hear a loud sound similar to a jet engine, firefighters said.
Residents between Inskeep Road and Harmony Road were asked to shelter-in-place as a precaution if they lived within one mile of the substation, the fire department asked. According to a map of the area, about seven homes were impacted, as well as route 35 and old route 35. Because of the small number, officials said there was no need for residents to panic.
Firefighters lifted the stay at around 8 p.m.
No other information has been released.
Below is a map showing the 1-mile radius around the substation.
