Two crashes had route 23 shutdown near the county line Monday morning, one of them taking the life of a woman.

It happened northbound on Highway 23 in Pickaway County, near the Ross County line.

A temporary detour was being routed to Blackwater and Orr Roads.

The calls came in just before 5 a.m.

The Highway Patrol confirms a fatal crash happened on the highway near Kingston Adelphi Road; a woman was reportedly thrown from her car after she lost control and rolled it several times. She died from her injuries. Her name was Lori B. Cutlip.

While deputies were investigating the fatal accident, vehicles were stopped along Route 23 about a half mile south because the highway was shut down.

That’s when troopers say a Chrysler 300 did not stop for the vehicles, slamming into the back of two other cars. Troopers were not immediately able to say why the man failed to stop. Witnesses told investigators that after the driver of the Chrysler caused the second accident, he got out of his car yelling, “I don’t have insurance!”

At least three people were transported to the hospital in that accident.
