A child is expected to be okay after being hit with fragments from a drive-by shooting.

It happened in Chillicothe this week, according to police captain Ron Meyers, inside the 100 block of South Walnut Street.

Meyers said that the child was not struck with a bullet, but was hit with flying debris.

It is unknown who fired the gun and why the shooting occurred. Meyers said the child’s family did not seek medical care or report the incident until the next day.

The child is expected to be okay.
