The Guardian has confirmed that longtime pillar of the Jeffersonville community, Gordon McCarty had passed away.
The news was confirmed by members of Jeffersonville Village Council on Monday afternoon.
“He was in the nursing home and his heart gave out on him from COVID-19 complications,” said Mayor Bob Kinzer.
McCarty was a longtime member of the Jeffersonville Village Council, who served on many community boards and organizations, including the Community Action Commission. McCarty and his wife, Janet, both were employed at the Jeffersonville School where Mr. McCarty was principal for numerous years.
McCarty was also the longest living-serving member of the Jefferson Township Fire Department and was township trustee at one time. He served on the Miami Trace School Board and the Fayette County Central Committee.
