Obituary
Charles Roger DePoy, 79, of Chillicothe, passed away 8:59 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2021 at his residence unexpectedly of natural causes.
He was born March 29, 1941, in Bourneville, Ohio, to the late Charles L. and Mary Shoemaker DePoy. On December 27, 1960, he married the former Dixie Dewey who survives.
In addition to his wife, surviving a daughter, Cathi Coy, of Grove City; a son, Kevin DePoy, of Frankfort; grandchildren, Colton Coy, Casi (Josh) Army, Cara Coy, Ellie DePoy and Breylee DePoy; nieces, Becky Breitenbach, Lisa DePoy Baer and Beth Knapp; and nephews, Brook Breitenbach, Rick Knapp and William DePoy. He was predeceased by a son, Bradley DePoy; a brother, John DePoy; and a sister, Lenora DePoy.
Roger retired in 1999 from the Mead Paper Company where he had worked for 40 years, lastly, as a Process Control Engineer where he was well known for his troubleshooting skills. He was a member of U.P.I.U. Local 731 and the Ross County Navy Petty Officers Club. Roger was a member of the first graduating class of Paint Valley High school in 1959 where he excelled on the basketball court. After retirement he could be seen most weekends out with the love of his life Dixie hunting for antiques and “treasures”. Roger loved to hunt and fish with his family and spent countless hours attending his grandchildren’s school and sporting events.
He was an avid reader of history, deep thinker and encouraged his family to do the same. Roger was always there to help anyone in need or to offer a kind word.
A public graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2021 in Twin Township Cemetery with Pastor Jon Welch officiating. Private calling hours will be held for immediate family. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
