The search for a missing kayaker resumed this morning in Ross County.
It’s centered around a missing man who fell overboard on Sunday in Paint Creek near Rapid Forge Road and route 50.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is leading an effort to find the missing man, whose name has not been released. He was last seen Sunday afternoon after he allegedly tipped a kayak and was trying to swim to shore.
Friends with the man called 9-1-1 saying he didn’t resurface from rough currants when he was swimming to shore.
ODNR launched boats and had their helicopter hovering overhead as volunteer rescue crews scoured the banks.
State officials said the search resumed Monday morning at 10 a.m. after being called off Sunday night due to darkness.
The man’s name has not been released.
