A Nelsonville woman was sentenced for her connection in the death of a Chillicothe photographer in Hocking Hills in 2019.
Miranda M. Spencer, 20, Nelsonville, pleaded guilty to a second-degree misdemeanor charge of obstructing justice; she was initially charged with a felony count of the same.
Spencer was sentenced to probation, a 90 day suspended sentence, a drug and alcohol evaluation, and a $500 suspended fine on Tuesday. She was ordered to have no contact with co-defendants Jaden Churchheus and Jordan Buckley.
Spencer went with the two boys to Hocking Hills State Park in 2019 when Victoria Schafer was killed, after the group rolled a log off a cliff. The log hit Schafer on the way down, killing her. Prosecutors said Spencer knew about the death but didn’t report her knowledge to police.
Both Buckley and Churchheus were sentenced in October after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter.
