PHYLLIS JOANNE THOMPSON, age 85, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, formerly of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 1:50 p.m. at her home.
She was born on December 17, 1935 in Franklin County to Bernard and Tora (Miller) Mann. She was a 1953 graduate of New Albany High School. Phyllis and her late husband, David, were third generation owners of Thompson’s Transfer Company. She was a member of the Fayette County Commission on Aging, the Holiday Rambler RV Club, Kiwanis Club, and Altrusa International. Phyllis was a loving and devoted, wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed traveling the United States with David, being with her family, and was an avid animal lover.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, David Earl Thompson, whom she married on August 8, 1975.
Survivors include her siblings, Paula A. (Al) Pearson of Indiana, and Bernard E. (Norma) Mann of Ohio; niece, Anita (Chad) Cox of Tennessee; nephews, Andrew (Susan) Cline of Ohio, and Richard (Jaime) Mann of Oklahoma; great nieces and nephews, Riley, Brandon, Keaton, Connor, Malorie, Hailey, Chase, and Hayley; best friend, Donna Gene Whalen; her loving neighbors in Washington CH, The Pickelsimer Family; her two earth angels, Debbie and Donna; and her beloved canine companion, Minnie Moo.
The graveside service will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at the Washington Cemetery with Danny Dodds officiating. Family and friends may visit at the Summers Funeral Home on Friday morning from 11-1:00 p.m.
