ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A popular website among locals in Ross County has been broken for nearly a month, but the county Sheriff says it’s a glitch that is expected to be fixed.

The Sheriff’s publicly available inmate roster — better known as “mugshots” — used to be updated twice an hour and could be viewed by anyone with internet access; the site was popular among locals. It displayed currently-incarcerated county inmates, their charges, and their bond information. However, the site has not been publicly updated since May 5.

The county contracts with a software known as “Miami Valley Jails,” which is run by another county, Montgomery County. According to a spokesman for the Ross County Sheriff’s office, the issue centers around an internal glitch on the local level in Chillicothe.

“Our software was updated on May 6th which caused an issue with our link to justiceweb. This link sends the information about inmates every 30 minutes to the server which is then posted to justiceweb,” said Deputy Larry Bamfield. “Our software vendor is aware of the issue and hopefully will have it back up soon.”

Bamfield did not offer an exact date for the repairs.
