PIKE COUNTY, Ohio — The Sheriff of Pike County was injured Tuesday afternoon when he was involved with a crash.
The Ohio Highway Patrol said Sheriff Tracy Evans was running lights and sirens to an emergency call when a vehicle driven by Barbara Beekman, Lucasville, failed to yield at a stop sign. Beekman, who was driving a Chrysler minivan eastbound on Zebulon Street, tried to turn left onto route 23. It was at that time Beekman turned directly into the path of Sheriff Evans, troopers said.
The Ohio Highway patrol stated that Sheriff Evans was transported to Adena Pike Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The other driver was treated on the scene by EMS.
The crash remains under investigation.
