FAYETTE COUNTY, Ohio — A deadly home explosion in Fayette County was likely caused by propane.
Brian Bohnert, spokesman with the state fire marshal told the Guardian that it is likely the home explosion that claimed the life of 70-year-old Patricia Miller was due to the gas.
Bohnert said, “We’re still investigating to determine what the ignition source might have been, but we do not believe arson was involved.”
The explosion happened around 10 a.m. Saturday. Witnesses reported that the blast shook their homes.
Fayette County Sheriff Vernon P. Stanforth said that when crews arrived the home was completely leveled.
Miller’s husband, Ted Miller, 71, was also injured in the explosion. He was flown to a Columbus area hospital in critical condition.
Investigators said the investigation is still ongoing, but the cause of the explosion is becoming clear. A final report is still pending.
