ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A Waverly woman has been indicted by a Ross County grand jury on felony animal cruelty charges.
Cynthia Colburn is accused of dragging a dog behind her vehicle for over a mile.
On July 6, Ross County deputies contacted the Ross County Human Society regarding a report that a dog had been dragged behind a vehicle.
According to the Ross County Dog Warden, the injured dog was transported to the North Fork Animal Clinic for treatment.
Veterinarians with the North Fork Animal Clinic observed multiple cuts and abrasions on the canine. The dog was later transported to the Ohio State University Veterinarian Clinic for further evaluation. It was there, the warden said, the injured dog, nicknamed Blake, died.
This incident sparked outrage in the community. Hundreds of people took to social media to vent their frustration.
