ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio — Nelsonville Police are mourning the loss of Officer Scott Dawley.

According to reports, multiple police officers were responding to a shooting incident around 2:30 p.m., Tuesday.

Officer Dawley was rushing to the scene when he was involved in a three-vehicle crash, officials said.

Dawley suffered fatal injuries as a result of the accident. Chief Scott Fitch of the Nelsonville Police said, first responders administered CPR but to no avail.

Officer Scott Dawley was pronounced dead on arrival at OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation. The names of the other drivers involved were not immediately released.
