VINTON COUNTY, Ohio — A Waverly man lost his life tragically in a motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon.
The Ohio Highway Patrol reports that the collision occurred around 4 p.m. along route 50 in Vinton County.
The 2015 Yamaha FZ-09 being operated by Shawn Urschel, 51, of Waverly, was traveling on route 50 when the accident occurred. A 2021 Jeep Wrangler driven by Herbert Peoples, 46, Jackson, backed out of a driveway and was struck by Urschel’s motorcycle.
EMS from Vinton Co. responded to the scene and transported Shawn Urschel to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Officials say Peoples was uninjured in the collision.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no further details have been released.
