ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio Highway Patrol responded to route 56 at County Road 19 in Athens County on reports of a two-vehicle crash on Monday.
According to reports, the accident happened around 4:30 p.m.
Troopers said Christopher Webb, 32, Athens, was driving his 2013 Nissan Pathfinder eastbound on route 56 when he failed to yield, hitting a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle.
Colton Thompson, 22, Trimble, was transported to O’Bleness Hospital and later airlifted to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia. His current condition was not immediately released.
Officials say Webb was treated at the scene by EMS.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Speed was a contributing factor to the crash, according to officials.
