SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio — Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman announced the arrest of a Portsmouth man for first-degree felony drug possession.
Sheriff Thoroughman said Portsmouth Police, in conjunction with the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a “Knock and Talk” operation at a local hotel in Rosemount.
Authorities say multiple drug-related complaints have come into the Sheriff’s Office regarding the hotel.
On Wednesday, October 14, 2021, at approximately 4:12 p.m., detectives from both agencies contacted a tenant at the hotel. Officials said the tenants consented to a search of the rooms. Following the investigation, law enforcement discovered approximately 150 grams of methamphetamine, 10 grams of another powdery substance, a Ruger LCP .380 handgun, digital scales, and other evidence of narcotics trafficking.
Arrested at the scene was George Webster, 47, Portsmouth. Webster, reports say, was transported to the Scioto County Jail.
Officials said a female tenant at the hotel faces possible charges as well. Her case information, Sheriff Thoroughman says, will be forwarded to the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office.
