COLUMBUS, Ohio — Disgraced former 10TV meteorologist Mike Davis has filed for early release from prison.

Davis filed the motion for judicial release on September 30, asking for a transfer from prison to a community-based intensive sex offender rehabilitation program. He has been serving time at the Grafton Correctional Institution in Lorain County.

In January 2020, Davis pled guilty to four counts of pandering sexually-oriented material involving a minor. He was sentenced to four years in prison.

In 2019, law enforcement raided the weatherman’s Upper Arlington home and searched the studios at WBNS, where Davis worked for more than 30 years.

Authorities said they found over 15,000 images of child pornography on devices owned by Davis, including his laptop at the WBNS studio. The station fired Davis shortly after his arrest.

On October 14, Franklin County Prosecutor G. Gary Tyak asked the judge to deny Davis’ motion.

Lawyers for Davis said in his motion for release that he has deep remorse for his crimes and claimed the risk of reoffending is low. Tyack said the opposite.

According to court documents obtained by the Guardian, the prosecutor says that Davis continues to show no remorse or take responsibility for his crimes. He has not completed any programs or attached any certificates to his motion, according to prosecutors.

Davis is not scheduled for release until 2024 unless a judge agrees to let him out early.

A court hearing on the motions, records show, has not been set.
