PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — Deadly drugs and a stolen gun were found in Pickaway County on Tuesday.
The Pickaway County Sheriff said that his deputies pulled over Thomas E. Burdette, 20, Columbus and saw a gun and marijuana sitting near the center console in plain view. The initial reason for the stop was not released.
Two passengers — Cortez D. Jones and Kyia M. Henry, both 20-years-old, also from Columbus, were detained, as well. After the occupants of the vehicle were secured, a probable cause search was conducted, the Sheriff said.
Inside, deputies found a Ruger LC9 handgun and a purse that contained a scale with white powdery residue and small baggies commonly used to package narcotics, the Sheriff said. The handgun was found to be stolen from Ross County.
Detectives from the South Central Ohio Major Crimes Unit arrived on scene and conducted field interviews. The Sheriff said that during the interview Henry admitted she had Fentanyl concealed on her. She removed the drugs and handed them over.
Jones was charged with firearm violations, including weapons under disability and receiving stolen property. Burdette was also charged with firearms related charges.
Additional charges may be filed upon receipt of the laboratory results on the suspected Fentanyl, the Sheriff said.
